ü Elwood W. Starr, Pastor of Astoria, OR, Seaside, OR, and Long Beach, WA (Oregon Conf.) “Years ago I found out that HMS Richards Sr. regularly read while he did his daily walk. In more recent years I concluded that if he could do that while he was severely limited in eye sight; I could figure out a way to do it with reasonably good eyes. Since I presently live on the coast I use a treadmill. My routine is to get up, dress in my sweats, and get a big drink of warm water. Then I pick up the book I’m reading, go out to the garage, and get on the treadmill. I walk at a fast pace for 20 to 30 minutes. I am reading more than I ever have before. I feel good from having a regular exercise program. I am presently reading through the Conflict of the Ages Series. I completed Desire of Ages early this week. So each morning I’m doubly blessed by both spiritual and physical exercise. I have done this outdoors as well, but it is a little more challenging to keep up a good pace.” elwoodandvernas@yahoo.com
ü Chris Donavan, Pastor Marysville & Arlington, WA (WA Conf.) “Three days a week I do three sets of three exercises– sit-ups, barbells curled to full extension overhead lift alternating arms and Jumping jacks or pushups (based on how much walking). Reminder– sweat before shower! BONUS: eating less fats and sugars during the week I have lost 15 lbs. and feel better (weekends I don’t worry about what I eat so much since we are often with other people who don’t eat exactly like we do). ü Larry Mays, Granger/Sunnyside, WA District, (Upper Columbia Conf.) “My dog takes me for a brisk 2.5 mile walk everyday. She walks and runs about ten miles chasing the ball I throw for her. But she keeps me consistent in my daily exercise program.” ldmays202@earthlink.net
