S.K.W.S.T.A. – Cari Dominguez, (Just retired) Chair of the US Equal Employment Opportunity Commission (EEOC) and a committed Seventh-day Adventist

“I try to let Micah 6:8 guide me- ‘He has showed you, O man, what is good. And what does the LORD require of you? To act justly and to love mercy and to walk humbly with your God.'”

— Cari Dominguez, (Just retired) Chair of the US Equal Employment Opportunity Commission (EEOC) and a committed Seventh-day Adventist. Cari’s family were Adventists in Cuba. At age 12 Cari came to the United States with her mother and siblings. An Adventist pastor met them at the airport and provided blankets and clothes at a time when they desperately needed them. Because her father was an accountant for a foreign company, he was not permitted to join the family for six years. Believing God allowed them to have an experience like Esther and Daniel, who left home for a foreign land, the family has always tried to help the downtrodden.

Ultimately Cari had an opportunity to help literally thousands of downtrodden people receive fair treatment while serving as the chair of the United States Equal Employment Opportunity Commission. After serving the second longest of any person in her position, with great distinction (See http://www.eeoc.gov/press/8-7-06.html), she stepped down from her position August 31, 2006.

For more information about God’s leading in her life read the story in the Adventist Review issue dated May 25, 2006 (Online at http://www.adventistreview.org/issue.php?issue=2006-1515&page=27 if you are a subscriber).
