How do you respond when a young person questions their faith in God’s Sabbath?
I recently had this conversation with a young man via social media.
Young person: “So anyways what do you think about what will happen in the end times to people who don’t go to church on the Sabbath? I’m currently questioning my faith about this topic mainly because currently I’m going to a non denominational church on Sundays and I just really want to know exactly what your point of view is on that.”
Me: Hi [name], Thanks for sharing your thoughts and questions.
We all feel more comfortable some places than others and that is natural. That’s why the Bible tells us to be careful about our feelings.
“There is a way that seems right to a man, But its end is the way of death.” Proverbs 14:12. “The heart is deceitful above all things, And desperately wicked; Who can know it?” Jeremiah 17:9.
Our only safety is to ask Jesus what He wants us to do because He is the Lord our God. Here’s what He says.
“Remember the Sabbath day, to keep it holy. Six days you shall labor and do all your work, but the seventh day is the Sabbath of the Lord your God. In it you shall do no work: you, nor your son, nor your daughter, nor your male servant, nor your female servant, nor your cattle, nor your stranger who is within your gates. For in six days the Lord made the heavens and the earth, the sea, and all that is in them, and rested the seventh day. Therefore the Lord blessed the Sabbath day and hallowed it.” Exodus 20:8-11
“So He came to Nazareth, where He had been brought up. And as His custom was, He went into the synagogue on the Sabbath day, and stood up to read.” Luke 4:16.
Jesus’ custom was to go to church on the Sabbath day, the seventh day, because He told all of His followers to remember to keep THE (not “a”) seventh day holy.
At the end of time God’s true followers will find out about His command and invitation to keep the seventh day Sabbath holy and each one will decide whether to follow Jesus and obey Him or to trust themselves more than Jesus. His faithful followers at the very end will keep all of His commandments, including the fourth commandment about the Sabbath (see Exodus 20:8-11 above). “Here is the patience of the saints; here are those who keep the commandments of God and the faith of Jesus.” Revelation 14:12.
It’s okay to have friends in other churches and to visit those churches from time to time. But as followers of Jesus we must remember to keep holy His special day, His special appointment with us, that begins every Friday at sunset and ends at Saturday sunset and includes worshiping with other Sabbath-keeping believers.
I know Jesus will help you as you are determined to please Him.
Here is a wonderful Bible study you can read and share with your friends.

Young person: Thank you. This really helps. I truly appreciate it.
