H.K.W.H.T.A. – Jan Paulsen, recently re-elected President of the General Conference of Seventh-day Adventists

“We are one global community with a shared identity. That is the way the Lord led us to see ourselves-to think, to plan, and to build our organizational structures-since we first began as a movement.

In contrast to many other Christian communions, we are not a collection of either congregational or national churches. As one integrated global community we have a common model constitution, we share the same policies, we have one common manual which describes the authority and functions of the local congregation, we have a common statement of fundamental beliefs, and we have an integrated resource support system which describes how we give and receive financial support to be effective in discharging the mission of the church.

All of this is an expression of our intent to be one united global family of faith. But each of these is no more than an indicator of our commitment to unity, for, at the heart of the matter, the unity we share and defend as a sacred trust is primarily a spiritual one. It is clear that Jesus desired that those who share faith in Him should also be united and bonded in the Spirit as one, with Him as the head.”
